Här är vattnet inte okej, enligt EU
Några av Medelhavets mest populära turistdestinationer uppfyller inte EU:s vattenkrav, visar en ny rapport som nyligen presenterades av en medlem av EU-parlamentet.
Ayia Napa på Cypern, Halkidiki i Grekland och Pisa i Italien finns med bland de 6 311 orter som inte är helt godkända, enligt EU:s vattenlagar.
Italien har 443 områden som inte helt klarar kraven, Grekland har 22, Cypern 57 och Portugal 201.
Parlamentsledamoten Victor Bostinaru, som presenterade resultaten, sade att rapporten visar på vidden av problemet i 27 medlemsstater. Bättre vattenreningssystem är en av lösningarna på problemet.
Victor Bostinaru, a Romanian MEP, who presented the findings at a meeting in the EU yesterday (March 26), said: “This report demonstrates the scale of the problem that exists across the 27 EU member states.
